Snowflake Obsidian

Obsidian is mostly silicone dioxide with large amounts of impurities.  It is a volcanic glass formed when lava pours into a lake or ocean. Snowflake obsidian’s blotchy or snowflake pattern occurs when inclusions of small, white, radially clustered crystals of cristobalite form.  Cristobalite is a polymorph of quartz, meaning that it is composed of the same chemistry, silicone dioxide, but has a different structure.  Snowflake obsidian brings emotions to the surface.  It provides balance during times of change, and allows you to recognize patterns in your life.  Snowflake obsidian encourages serenity, purity, and shields negativity.

Physically, snowflake obsidian strengthens the veins and skeleton.  It smooths the skin, and strengthens the eyes.

Snowflake obsidian is associated with the root chakra.
