Rhodochrosite

Manganese Carbonate is known as rhodochrosite.  During the rule of Inca Ripac (or "Viracocha"), this beautiful stone was discovered in the Inca empire. But when the empire started its downfall, the mine was abandoned. In 1938, an Incan mine was rediscovered, and in the process an Incan Tomb was unearthed, holding funerary jewelry inside it. This led to the popular re-baptism of rhodochrosite as inca rose or rosinca. Indians of the Andes today believe that the blood of their ancient rulers had turned into the gemstone there.  Rhodochrosite is derived from the Greek words rhodon ("pink") and chros ("color"). Though it has certain similarities to another pink gemstone, rhodonite, the latter is harder and has different cleavage.  A stone of love and balance, rhodochrosite calms excess passion, and promotes self love.  It relieves emotional stress, relaxes the diaphragm, thus facilitates deep breathing.  Achieve ecstatic meditation with this stone, and use it to focus healing to the Earth.  It heightens awareness, acceptance, and prevents sickness.

Physically, rhodochrosite strengthens the pulse rate, kidneys, and thyroid.  It helps with digestion and elimination.

Rhodochrosite is associated with the heart chakra.
