Pyrite
Comprised of iron sulphide, pyrite is commonly known as fools gold, but I prefer the tag healer’s gold. It is so common in the earth’s crust that it is found in almost every possible environment, therefor it has a vast number of forms and varieties. Pyrite is found in spectacular forms, including the cube, octahedron and pyritohedron (a dodecahedron with pentagonal faces) and crystals with combinations of these forms. The name pyrite has been derived from the Greek word, pyrites lithos, which mean ‘stone which strikes fire,’ in allusion to the sparking produced when iron is struck by a lump of pyrite. It is considered to be a stone which can spark creative thinking to one who uses it and opens the user to new ideas. Pyrite is a powerful stone for use with the mind. It enhances intellect, logic, and mental stability. It boosts creativity, memory, and psychic development. Pyrite is a very grounding stone, which is said to mend the aura. Use pyrite when intending to achieve higher knowledge, and when sorting through your emotions. Pyrite is especially good for recalling those memories you have which are good. It may be helpful in avoiding physical dangers.
Physically, pyrite benefits bones, cells, RNA and DNA. It can be used to ease bronchitis, lung problems, and it lessens fevers and inflammation.
Pyrite is associated with the solar plexus chakra, and base chakra.
