Lapis Lazuli

Lapis’ name is a combination of the Latin word lapis, or "stone," and the Arabian name azul, meaning "blue." One of the few rocks used as a gem, lapis lazuli is composed of grains of several blue minerals, including lazurite and sodalite. This complex, opaque gemstone additionally has a matrix of calcite and speckles of pyrite.  There is a refinement of all thought-forms when working with this stone, and so it can bring matters to mind much more clearly, leaving you better able to organize effectively.  Lapis lazuli is a powerful stone ally when accessing sacred mysteries, or occult knowledge.  It is as an initiation into wisdom, promoting truth, openness, inner power, virility, and intuition.  Use lapis to gain insight into your dreams, and for manifestation, it will guide you strait towards evolution.  It provides protection against psychic attacks.  Lapis lazuli helps us so we can become more in touch with our essence and play an active role in the control of our existence.

Physically, lapis lazuli benefits sinus problems, headaches, bone marrow, and  the immune system.  Lapis can be beneficial to the respiratory system through the throat and lungs, the cleansing organs, and the nervous system.  It can stimulate the pituitary and thymus glands, and provide pain relief.  Lapis lazuli  strengthens the voice and ears.  Use it to find comfort from insomnia or vertigo.
