Hematite

Hematite is an iron oxide, steel gray to iron black in color.  It absorbs negativity on contact, and balances the meridians.  Hematite was used by Galen for inflamed eyelids and headaches, and by Pliny for blood disorders. Egyptians valued it as a cure for hysteria.  Hematite is very protective and grounding, and helps us focus spirit energy.  Use it to boost your self-esteem, and break your limitations.  Hematite enhances memory, the ability to maintain technical knowledge, and facilitates original thinking.  Hematite encourages self control.

Physically, the iron in this mineral has a strong effect on the blood and supports kidney function.  Hematite aids spinal alignment, leg cramps, and nervous disorders.  It improves manual dexterity, and can be used to help heal breaks and fractures.
