Amethyst

Amethyst is a variety of quartz (silicon oxide), transparent, violet to purple in color.  Amethyst is a well known stone of high spirituality, helping us connect our earth-plane to other worlds.  It is truly a stone of contentment, with the powerful ability to help one experience their heart center, and in so doing, introducing the concept of universal love.  Amethyst is often known as a stone of pure love, it radiates peace and strength, and clears the aura.  Amethyst is a recommended stone for meditation.  It protects against psychic attack, and promotes cooperation between the physical and spiritual realms.  Amethyst holds within it the vibration of LOVE, and thus planetary healing.   It has long been associated with supporting sobriety, and is an ally when battling with addictions of all kinds.  Amethyst can help one attain stability, and make fair decisions.  A wise stone for those in power or with important responsibilities.  Leonardo Da Vinci wrote that amethyst was able to dissipate evil thoughts and quicken the intelligence.

Amethyst is both a powerful receiver and transmitter.  A great exercise requiring 2 stones/crystals is as follows,  place one piece on the body where you intend on sending healing energy.  Have another person or yourself hold another piece with the intent of sending the energy to the other stone.  Great for distance healing, amethyst can be held by the sender and receiver for powerful results.   

Physically, amethyst can heal hearing, aid posture, strengthen immunity, heal nervous system, endocrines, aid digestion, and the heart.  Amethyst soothes the skin, strengthens teeth, heals cellular disorders, helps with insomnia, mental disorders, arthritis, and can relieve pain especially of the head.
